Hot patootie, bless my soul! The biggest mind flip of the year is finally upon us: Waco Civic Theatre’s “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” Shadow Cast will grace the Waco Hippodrome’s stage in just one day!
For most of you, this is the weekend you’ve been waiting for – your costume has been done for months, you’ve pulled out your gloves, and you’re ready for a wild ride! But for many of us, the so-called “RHPS virgins,” the idea of seeing this show can be daunting, especially when faced with the strangeness of the “virgin sacrifices.”
Never fear, you’re not alone. We’ve compiled seven tips that everyone should know before seeing “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” for the first time:
1) DRESS UP
In true Dr. Frank-N-Furter fashion, dress to impress! Whether that means showing up in a corset, golden speedo or your nerdiest glasses, we want to see it all. The Waco Civic Theatre will have a costume contest that costs $5 to enter and the winner receives ALL THE MONEY. Who wouldn’t want to dress up?
2) USE YOUR PROPS – WISELY
We will be providing a $10 goodie bag for you to use at designated times throughout the show. Props will enhance the overall experience and make you an active participant!
3) SHOUT, SHOUT, LET IT ALL OUT
Great Scott! If you’re not screaming the whole time, chances are you’re not doing it right. This show thrives off of your cheers and jeers – we want to hear you all the way from Transsexual Transylvania!
4) DO THE TIME WARP
5) DON’T TOUCH THE ACTORS
Our actors are all for having a crazy time on stage, but please refrain from putting your hands on them! Nobody wants to be touched by strangers when they’re in their skivvies.
6) PARTICIPATION. IS. EVERYTHING
You get what you give, so go big or go home! We want you to be dancing, snapping your gloves and shaking with partici… pation.
7) BRING ENERGY
Don’t dream it, be it. There’s no crime in giving yourself over to the absolute pleasure that will permeate the Hippodrome. The energy that you bring will make the whole experience a memory that lasts a lifetime.
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will begin at midnight at the Waco Hippodrome. You can buy tickets at the door, here for 10/27, or here for 10/28 (but hurry; tickets are selling fast!). Let’s do the time warp again!
